ABOUT

BGSU Quidditch was founded in fall 2010 by Alexis Moody.  The team started out very small, competing against other teams, some of who were much better. That year the team went 7-7.  The 2011-2012 year was a pretty rough one for BGSU Quidditch even though the players were getting stronger.  The team attended the first ever Midwest Regionals and went 0-4.  After that, it was off to New York for World Cup V where everyone had tons of fun riding the subway, eating waffles and of course playing quidditch against teams from all over the world.  Once again though, the team went 0-4, finishing 59th out of 60.  Everyone was thoroughly disheartneded but coming into the 2012-2013 quidditch season meant new captains, new team members and a fresh start for BGSU Quidditch.

Midwest Regionals this year was nerve-wracking after seeing the teams that BGSU would face.  After going 4-0, 1st seed in pool play, the team continued to wow the audience and other teams by making it all the way to the finals against Marquette.  BGSU had beaten teams during this tournament that had previously pummeled the team before.  Placing second at regionals never felt so much like first before!

BGSU kind of fell off other teams radar once spring started, not playing in many tournaments so people were starting to doubt BGSU's abilities.  During World Cup VI pool play the team went 2-2 which was worse than what the captains expected.  This meant that BGSU would have to fight for a spot in bracket play.  Once again though, BGSU wowed the quidditch world taking down top teams such as Miami of Florida, Maryland and The Lost Boys.  By BGSU's final four game against the University of Texas, half of the team was down with injuries.  The people that were not injured played their hearts out while the rest of the team cheered them on along with the crowd.  There were people playing positions they had never played before.  This final game at World Cup VI did not go down without a fight from BGSU Quidditch and we are proud to say that BGSU Quidditch took 3rd at the Quidditch World Cup VI!
